Robert Charles Bell

September 28, 1940 - February 10, 2021

Tribute

Bob was born in Vancouver and at a young age moved to Duncan. He was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Dorothy. He is survived by his two sons, Bob Jr, and Ron and his grandchildren Riley and Celeste. He also leaves behind his partner and devoted soulmate Susie Qualley.
Bob enjoyed his annual hunting trips, but it was fishing that he was so well known for. He learned from his mother, a fishing guide. He picked it up so quickly that he started guiding in Cowichan Bay at age ten! For eight years he was a popular fishing guide in Tofino. His claim to fame was being known as the       “King of Wilf Rock”!
Bob and Susie met on the golf course as they were both members of the Cowichan Golf Club. Bob was also an exceptional curler, a long-time member of Duncan Curling Club. Baseball was his passion. He played for 34 years and when grandson Riley took up ball, Bob never missed watching a game. He was a Blue Jays fan.
Bob and Susie spent twenty-six winters in Guayabitos, Mexico, their “second home”, a beautiful place in paradise. Bob was unique, a social individual, a real character. He treasured all of his friends who loved to visit for “happy hour”.
A very special thank you to Dr. Glenn Robinson for his kindness and care for Bob over many years and to the fabulous front-line workers who cared for Bob in his last days.
We look forward to a celebration for Bob when the time is right.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the BC Cancer Foundation.
