Richard (Rick) Williamson
Tribute
It is with profound sadness the family of Rick Williamson announce his passing July 18 at age 79.
Rick was born in New Westminster in 1945 to Elma and Tom Williamson. He grew up in Deep Cove North Vancouver where his love of the ocean began.
Rick was predeceased by his mother Elma, father Tom and stepfather Hal Rolfe.
He is survived by his wife Linda (of 56 years), son Drew (Sabrina), beloved grandson Asher, brothers-in-law Bill (Cathy), Ken, Tom (Linda), Jim (Joanne) and sister-in-law Diane (Ron) as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Rick had a lifelong love of sports and played football, ball, and golf but skiing was his passion. He learned to ski at an early age and when old enough, joined the ski patrol at Grouse Mountain and later Whistler. After moving to Calgary, he was a volunteer ski patroller at Lake Louise for 20 years followed by several years of skiing at Fernie.
Rick met the love of his life Linda in Vancouver. They were married and moved to Calgary where they spent many happy years.
After retiring they divided their time between Calgary, Arizona and Cowichan Bay for 10 years before leaving Calgary to move to Cowichan Bay.
Rick was the quintessential people person, outgoing, loved his friends, meeting new people and striking up conversations with strangers.
The time we had with Rick was not enough. He truly embraced life. We will remember him for the way he lived his life, the love he had for his family, and the impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
