Tribute

Dad left us peacefully on January 24th at the Cowichan District Hospital.  All his loved ones were there to say good bye and send him on his way. Dad was always one to follow his dreams, from homesteading in Alberta to working in a saw mill on the Alaska Highway, to working construction and becoming a certified electrician. Dad moved to the Prince George area to ranch and then became a hunting guide in Chetwynn B.C. He lived it all and never shied away from doing what he loved. He leaves behind his loving wife Doris and all four boys, Gord, Dennis (Rhea), Mike (Barb), Doug (Patti) Sister Marilynn Pearsall, 10 grandsons and many great grandchildren to miss him dearly. Dad had many friends and a large extended family and we ask that they all share in our loss and remember him for the great family man he was. I would like to thank Dr. Roy Gilbert and Dr. Isabelle Rimmer for their care, as well as the wonderful nurses at CDH, especially 2 South, and the EMTs that carried him so gently to the hospital. A Celebration of Life was held at HW Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre, 5285 Polkey Road in Duncan, on January 28th at 1:00 pm Dad’s ashes will be taken to the Halcourt Cemetery in Alberta to rest with his Family, tentatively scheduled for the August long weekend.

So many happy memories of “uncle” Dick right from first meeting him when I was a teenager on Indian Road in Duncan, working with him in Upper Fraser and having him as master of ceremonies when Joe and I were married. Goodbye my friend
