Raymond Witteveen

February 23, 1945 - July 18, 2026

Tribute

Raymond Witteveen was born in Harkema, the Netherlands, and passed away suddenly, yet peacefully, at home in Duncan, BC.

He was predeceased by his parents, Feitze and Stijntje Witteveen; his sisters, Alice Bazuin of Chemainus, Sadie Wikkerink of Cobble Hill; and three in-laws: Luke Bazuin, Rudolf Wikkerink and Wiepie Witteveen.

He is lovingly remembered by his brothers, John Witteveen of Brampton, ON, and Ike Witteveen (Jennie) of Cambridge, ON, his sister, Susan Witteveen of Duncan, BC, 14 nieces and nephews, 36 great nieces and nephews, several great-great nieces and nephews and many friends.

In May of 1952, Raymond (aged 7) immigrated to Canada with his family. They lived on the Dougan Farm in Cobble Hill until 1967. He graduated from Cowichan District High School in 1964 and worked for many years at Western Forest Products where he also provided First Aid services, a role he carried out with dedication. In his retirement he worked for a landscaper in Duncan.

A faithful member of Duncan Christian Reformed Church, Raymond served as an usher for more than 60 years and was a devoted supporter of Christian education.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Duncan Christian School.

Raymond will be interred at Mountainview Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 31 at Duncan Christian Reformed Church, 930 Trunk Rd., Duncan, at 11:00 a.m.
