Raymond Cooper Curtis
May 28, 1933 - June 24, 2016
Tribute
Passed away peacefully. Predeceased by his wife Jean, son Roc and brother Greg.
Survived by his son Reo and his wife Helen and grandsons Frazer and Cliff.
Dad’s family came to Vancouver from Manitoba in the late 1940’s. He went logging up the West Coast South Bentinck Arm, etc.. Then he became a Welder. He then went on to work on the 2nd Narrows Bridge and quit two weeks before it collapsed. Then he worked on the George Massey Tunnel and the old Port Mann Bridge for 3 years. Then he went to work for the Boilermakers Lodge 359. He worked all over B.C. plus Alberta for many years until he retired. He hunted and fished all his life. A very resourceful and determined man. Back in the late 60’s we were going to Frogmore Lake in the Merrit area for the first time. We were winching the Power wagon up the side of a steep mountain on what could barely be called a road when the cable snapped. Mom was getting very upset and Roc and I just wanted to get out of there. “Nope” dad got out a large screwdriver and spliced the cable back together with it. This got us up to the best trout fishing we’d ever seen.
As per request there will be no service. Instead hoist a beer.
