Rae Burns

November 5, 1934 - May 12, 2022

It is with sadness that the family of Rae Burns announce her passing on May 12th, 2022 in her 86th year. She is survived by her husband James (Jim) Burns of 68 years along with her two sons Tony (Kim) and Brady (Rhonda). She will also be missed by her grandkids Kim (Jim), Russell (Kyla), Graeme (Alexandra), Kristen and Jamey (Brooke) and great grandkids Jakob, Taylor and Kai as well as her sister, Leslie (Bob) Provan along with a nephew, many nieces and great grand nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her sister Meryl and her brother-in-law Gordie Bennett.

Rae was born in Edmonton but spent most of her childhood and younger years in Oak Bay. She owed a dance studio in Sidney that she sold when her, Jim and the boys bought the lake front property in Shawnigan Lake in the 70s. She was an avid golfer and was a member at Cowichan golf course for many years. She also enjoyed reading and doing ceramics at her home studio.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cairnsmore where Rae lived for the past couple of years and the staff at the Cowichan District Hospital for the wonderful care that she received.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to BC Cancer Society.
