Pierre Richard Noiseux (Joseph)
April 11, 1949 - July 18, 2023
Tribute
Pierre Richard Joseph Noiseux, aged 74 years, of Cowichan Bay, BC, Canada, passed away at home in the morning hours of July 18, 2023.
Pierre was born April 11, 1949 in Montreal, to Guy Noiseux and Mary Elizabeth (nee Duggan). He grew up in the town of Magog, where his mother ran a newspaper stand with an ice cream counter. He loved his older brother, Michel, and sister Marie Claire. Pierre could not be contained by schooling, and soon headed to Vancouver to seek his fortune, under the moniker “Mad Pierre”.
Although he claimed to “not remember” the 1970s, he was very busy. Pierre was part of the Canadienne Gazette Theatre in Vancouver, a group specializing in bringing Quebecois plays to British Columbia. Pierre worked in construction, in logging camps and as a medic, but he summed it all up as “I was a lumberjack”.
In 1977 he moved to Vancouver Island and started work at Doman’s Sawmill (later Western Forest Products). He retired in 2016, after 39 years of holding the place together as the Mill Accountant.
Pierre loved to travel in his RV, made time to stargaze, and fully immersed himself in the fellowship of AA.
He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Wendy Shaw (nee Darbyshire). They loved each other from 1984 until the day they left the earth. Wendy and Pierre lived at their home, “The Cedars” for over 30 years, holding a space for family, love, and especially Boxing Day. Our family looked to Pierre as example of total love and devotion to his partner.
Survived by his sister Marie Claire Noiseux, daughters Moira Noiseux (Jill G. & Chris P.), Amanita LeMon (Chris Risden), Sarah Klettke (Gord Klettke), Jessica Shaw, sons Jaran Noiseux-MacKay (Tegan Noiseux-Mackay), Jon Shaw (Katelyn Owens), Adam Shaw and granddaughters Lia Rathburn, Gwendolyn Owens Shaw, Lanaya Klettke, grandsons Stephen Klettke (Taryn Constable-Klettke), Danny Klettke (Kelly Klettke), and Craig Klettke (Deanna Klettke), great grandchildren Alexander Klettke Platt, Dakota, Ellie, Ollie, Liam, Aidan, Kieran, Reese and Riley. Predeceased by his parents and his beloved brother Michel Richard Joseph Noiseux. We apologize in advance for the people we missed.
Pierre agreed with Wendy when she declared:
“When it comes to family there are no steps, no step-children, no step-parents; if you’re in, you’re in.” If your name is not here or your relationship description is vague or incorrect…you’re still in.
