Born in Seaford Sussex England came across to Canada at 6 months. Raised and lived in Victoria until 1988 and moved to Maple Bay and has enjoyed living in Crofton, Ladysmith and Duncan. Predeased by her husband Harry Sanders in 1985 and sister Enid in 1999 and brother John in 2002. Bessie is survived by daughter Victoria and son-in-law Gordon Oldnall and son William “Bill” and daughter-in-law Lois Sanders. Very much loved by all who knew her and terribly missed by her grandchildren Jim and Tamie Oldnall and great-grandsons Christopher and Stephen. Mark and Dianne Oldnall and great-granddaughters Hannah and Grace. John and Kristy Oldnall and great-grandchildren Olivia, Simon and Benjamin. Lora and Mark Neufeld and great-grandson Isaac. Carey and Alissa Sanders and David Sanders. Niece, Beverly and Barrie McKenzie and great-niece Cathleen and Joel Carter and great-great-nieces Mckenzie and Cassandra and great-niece Anthea McKenzie.
Bessie was an avid fisherman and would rather be fishing than doing anything else. Her other other passions included her fantastic flower garden at her home in Victoria, playing games with family, Bingo, and visiting the casinos on the island or mainland and she loved to go to Reno.
For 16 months Bessie has been a resident of the Chemainus Health Care Centre and has been lovingly cared for by all the staff and Dr. Manhas; the family is truly grateful to the staff for their caring and support for Bessie and the family. We also want to thank Dr. Douglas Patterson in Victoria for his care of Bessie over very many years.
