Peter Hoskins Davies

March 5, 1930 - December 12, 2022

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pete Davies in Duncan on December 12, 2022.

Pete was born in Victoria and did much of his schooling there.  He spent his summers as a child at his father’s cabin in Shawnigan Lake and didn’t stray far from the Lake for the rest of his life.  He met his best friend and beloved wife Mary, they married in 1949 and made their lives here in Shawnigan Lake raising 4 children, starting Pete Davies Bulldozing and becoming involved in the community.

Anyone who knew Pete knew he had gifts – a sense of humour, a long memory and a zest for life.  If he met you, he remembered you.  If he dug your basement, he remembered the road you lived on.  If you went to school with one of his kids, he remembered your name, your parents name and where they lived and worked.  He always had a story or a joke and everyone called him Pete, including his kids, grandkids and great- grandkids

His best years were spent going south to the Palm Springs area for the winter with Mary and their loved travel partners Pat and Eileen Mason.  With the Mason’s they traveled pretty much all of Canada and many US states.

Pete is predeceased by his best friend and wife Mary.  He is survived by his son Bruce (Patti), daughter Christine, daughter Patricia (Jim) and son James, grandson Ken, granddaughter Lisa and great-grandchildren Quinn, Keenan and Cassidy.  Also predeceased by his much loved grandson Kevin as well as his brother John, parents John and Phyllis Hoskins-Davies.

We can’t say enough to thank the staff at Cairnsmore Place for looking after Pete this last 3 years in such a loving, caring and respectful way.  To Jackie, Liz, Debbie, Linda, Ron, Janice, Stacy, Susan, Gladys…and too many names to mention, a huge thank you.  Truly we thank you, we were so fortunate to have such wonderful people care for Dad.  Angels don’t wear wings, angels wear scrubs.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
