Patricia Tryon
January 30, 1952 - July 4, 2021
Tribute
Pat died suddenly at home after an accident.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, James Tryon and Virginia Tryon (nee Ramsay). She is survived by her spouse of 40 years, Rose Lippert, and her siblings Jim Tryon (Heather Tryon), Allan Tryon (Joyce Johnston), Gordon Tryon, Robert Tryon and Diane Eyben.
She was especially close to her niece Cordelia Tryon and her Godchild Colette Berryman, and she was so proud of their careers and families.
Pat was a pragmatic feminist. Finding her English degree from Simon Fraser University virtually useless in the job market of the late 70’s, she entered a trades program in Northern B.C., acquiring her carpentry certification after a winter apprenticeship in Dawson Creek. She and very few other women were the first to be employed in heavy construction in the 80’s in B.C. She was also a skilled finishing carpenter, working on the interior renovation of the Empress Hotel. As a small holder and farmer, she built several barns, out buildings and greenhouses, often by herself.
Once again making the most practical transition, in her forties, she retrained as a Care Aid and worked more than 25 years at Cowichan Lodge and Cairnsmore Place. A fierce advocate for the elderly, she always called it as she saw it, and was one of the last HEU staff to leave when Cowichan Lodge was closed.
Pat was a fearless beekeeper and an accomplished dressage rider. A true Aquarian, she had the ability to do extraordinary things and make them look easy.
Infinite gratitude goes to the heroes who attended the accident scene transcending chaos to do their jobs: BC Ambulance and Paramedics teams, Lake Cowichan RCMP, Volunteer Fire Dept., Coroner’s Service and their support staff, and Victim Services (WAVAW). Also, to the angels who arrived as if sent, Kerry, Susan, Howard and Phil, many, many thanks.
Pat was a lover of all animals but especially Havanese dogs and Andalusian horses. Any contribution to the BCSPCA will preserve her memory.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dear Rose & Tryon Family
How saddened I was to learn of Patsy’s passing today. My sincere condolences to you all.
The last time I saw Patsy she was in her middle teens and just spreading her wings.
Wish I could have known her as an adult. It appears she had many accomplishments in her life, and was well liked by everyone who knew her.

Sending condolences to the family and friends of Pat who had the privilege of having her in their lives. Although we had not seen each other for many many years Patsy was an inspiration a trailblazer in the things she did. I was so proud of having her as a cousin.,,my heart is saddened at knowing of her passing. 💕

Dear Rose, I am not sure if this will get through but wanted to express my deepest condolences for the loss of your true love. I have been in a bubble of sorts myself (with Samantha my daughter) since 2019 and just now starting to explore the outside. Please reach out to us if there is anything that Samantha and I can do or if you are in town and have time to stop by for a chat. Much love my friend! Liz
