Patricia Louise O'Callaghan
July 13, 1938 - March 24, 2026
Tribute
With deepest sorrow, we said farewell to our dearly beloved mom who passed away peacefully at home with her loyal companion Sasha by her side.
Born in Edmonton mom attended school in Red Deer and Lethbridge. She was married in 1958 and was blessed to have 3 wonderful children.
Pre-deceased by her mother, Edna O’Callaghan(nee McQueen), father Ken O’Callaghan and brother Dennis O’Callaghan.
Mom is survived by her children Lyndele Etherington(nee Koss)(Jon), Richard Koss(Darlene), and Barb Sorensen(nee Koss). Also survived by her brother Terry O’Callaghan(Cyd), and her very special and much loved grandchildren Ryan Koss, Diane Moortele(nee Koss), Chris Sorensen(Sam), Jordan Courtright(Baylee), and great grandchildren Eligh and Addison Moortele and Everlee Courtright.
Other special family and friends mom held dearly in her heart are her special niece Tammy O’Callaghan and son Kyle, Ben Sorensen, Bob, Christine and Patrick Cools as well as many other nieces and extended family that called her Grama.
Her very special Sasha was her love and laughter. Mom thanked God for giving the two of them the opportunity to share so much life together .
Mom enjoyed traveling to different places around the world like Europe, Ireland, Asia, Hawaii, Mexico and even gold panning in Alaska. She loved roads trips and camping with the family and carried that path on with her grandchildren, (taking detours into the states in error more then once).
Mom loved to bake and many great gatherings were held at ‘home’.
Mom had the biggest heart. Always there to help, to listen ,to lend a shoulder and accept the people and things her children brought her way.
Mom loved swimming, horseback riding, dancing and girl guides. One of her biggest passions was crocheting beautiful afghans and in typical mom style she would give them away so we could wrap ourselves in her warm hug.
Mom, we miss you so much. We will watch for those butterflies and give them a smile. We know you loved us all for who we are. Forever and always in our hearts. XO
It was moms wish that no service be held. Instead she requested a small gathering of family and friends to join her on a warm sunny day in June to send her on her final journey.
Mom’s parting words; “So I say to you now , til we meet again “.

There’s no words to describe the pain in my heart and how much I miss you Mom. You are with me in every second of every day. We had so many great adventures, trips, laughs, tears, special moments together, and shared dreams. Heart to heart talks, and being ‘there’ for each other was the foundation of our relationship. You gave me so much love and support like no other person ever has. Forever and always Mom I love you….bu-bye Lady, and ciao for now….

I am going to miss you so much my dear friend and confidante. In the short 2 years that I’ve known you, I’ve learned to love you , not just as a friend but like a sister and family. my family will miss you specially Hayden who loved talking to you. I think of you every time I go outside remembering our little chats rain or shine no matter what time it was .I think of you when I bake , thinking I should take over a few of these for Pat, then remembering sadly I can’t anymore.Rest in Peace my friend , and as you often say to me ” Yes, you do the praying and I’ll pick the apples for you”

Relation: Like family
So very sad to lose this very special lady. We are all so very blessed and grateful for the family you have all become to us. I still have the newspaper ad that brought us together 29 years ago and had no idea at the time how amazing she was. I kept a diary for Patrick from the time we found out we were pregnant until he was 7 years old. Gramma Pat would write notes for me about his days so I could update my diary. Just one example of the many things she went so far above and beyond for us. Her sense of humour never left her, making us laugh always. Our world will never be the same without our Gramma Pat. She will always be in our hearts. Love you more than a banana split!! Bob, Christine and Patrick
