Nicholas Paul Everard Proctor
December 12, 1956 - August 12, 2026
Tribute
Predeceased by his Father (Harold) and Mother (Ruth). He will never be forgotten by his remaining family and far reaching friends.
His daughter, Alisha, wishes for y’all to crank a good ole rock n roll tune in his memory. Alisha has had his vinyl collection for years and it is treasured.
Born in England, his parents and eldest sister moved to Canada when he was just 6 months old. They settled in Duncan, BC where he would spend his whole life. Many years rampaging Maple Bay with his brother and the neighbourhood crew. It’s also where he met Alisha’s mum, Sue and her sisters. He ended up in Lake Cowichan for a handful of years to be closer to his younger sister’s family. (And his Mum, who lived with her). He went down every morning to spend time with his Mum, for many years
Nick lived life to the max! Fast cars, fast skiing, fast boats, music blaring, for many years. He bombed through the forest at Mach speed, spacing trees so he could take summers off with Alisha. He planted thousands of trees to balance things out.
He worked a handful of years for BC Parks and led the crew that built the original Juan de Fuca trails!
Nick had a passion for justice and probably should have been a lawyer but the fast lane was calling!
He was kind, outgoing, generous and always looking out for others. He has surely left a lasting impression on many, many people. Often referred to himself as Saint Nicholas!
The last handful of years were what most would consider. tough. But Nick remained positive and chose to try to contribute to a better community. You may have run into him playing the pianos downtown…he likely talked your ear off! And that most definitely would have included talking about the weather. Just one of his many interests.
Dad, you instilled so much in me. A passion for rocking out to loud music, a deep caring for our old growth forests and respect for the beautiful place we live, your stubbornness. I say it regularly, that I am my father’s daughter. My love of houseplants and gardening, straight from you. Owning cameras since I was a kid, you.
Summers were pretty wild with you, Dad. I will forever drive with my windows down (and heat on for the cold months), with my hair whipping around because we spent years ripping around in your convertible, MG Midget. Hiking Cape Scott Trails to the northernmost tip of Vancouver Island to flying kites to chasing the sun! I have a million fond memories from my childhood with you.
Fly free! I hope our space dust meets again. Just two lost souls, swimming in a fish bowl but don’t worry because you can Always Look on the Bright Side of Life!
