Missing Neil Peters
Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, we all lost a good friend.
Neil volunteered to do income tax for lower income people, for many years, including this year.
Organizing Cribbage and Playing was great passion of Neil.
Neil loved his desserts! When asked about eating yummy desserts at 9:00 am he said, “well I had breakfast at 6:00 am, I shouldn’t, but I’m going to, any way”.
Neil also loved his time at the Casino. When asked how you are you doing, he would give a grumpy groan and keep playing. We are still not sure how he really was doing.
For many years Neil volunteered to call Bingo at the Valley Seniors Organization. He also arranged for licensing their games and 50/50 draws. Neil was never too busy to get change for their dances, kitchen, front desk or any other function they were having.
Neil was a Veteran, Commissionaire and was with the Air Cadets.
The Knights of Columbus was very important to him. We have bought many a raffle ticket from Neil, hoping to win a car.
Neil was the President of Branch 53 Legion in Duncan; after stepping down he joined the Lake Cowichan Legion.
He also organized the crib at the Duncan Valley Seniors, and Legion with Tom.
Neil did many a day of pinning poppies on others for Remembrance Day.
Neil enjoyed Volunteering at our Cowichan Exhibition.
Neil was a great friend to all. He still tried to do his best to help, even when ill.
Neil’s faith was very important to him.

Neil was an officer at 744 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron and a continuing supporter of our Sponsoring Committee. I will miss Neil’s random drop ins at the hall for coffee and a chat. When I heard he had passed I was carrying a receipt in my purse for his last donation to our Society. We will miss Neil, he was a good man.
