Special thanks to the staff at Acacia Ty Mawr in Shawnigan Lake who lovingly cared for Mom over the past 4 years.

Dear Karen, Susan, Chris and families. Thinking of you all at this time. The loss of one’s parent or grandparent is a time of sorrow, but also reflection upon all the good times there were along with some of life’s more challenging times. Cherish your memories and KNOW that she lives on in you and all those good memories. From our meetings with your mom we remember the good and true person she was and want to offer our sincere condolences at this time. Sincerely Glen and Karen

Dear Karen, Suusan and Chris, Your Mum and I were good friends and work collegues for many years. Muriel was one of the kindness, most patient people that I have known. We had many a laugh together and she has a place in the corner of my heart forever. Much love to you all Catherine (Cathie) Eck

From: Sharon Brown
Relation: I worked with Muriel in the Steps to Maturity program in the School district

Dear Karen, Susan and Christine, and families, I was able to visit your Mum when she first went down to Duncan, but have been remiss for a long while..Just want to let you know how much I enjoyed working, socializing, and visiting with your Mum over the years. She was a kind and gracious lady that we will remember fondly, but often told me of her tanacity as a youngster..it didn’t seem to fit the Muriel I knew, but…I loved to hear the stories…I’m sure caring for her over these last few years has been a challenge, and as a parent, I thank you for all you did..My grandaughter was one of her care givers in Duncan, so I would ask how she was doing…take care all of you, and again my condolences for your loss.

My thoughts are with you. I have many warm (and fun) memories of Muriel and my time working with her.

From: Colleen Dempsey
Relation: colleague

I first met Muriel when she worked with the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District Steps to Maturity programme in the 1970s. She and the other two members of the ‘team’ came into my classroom, and many other classrooms, to work with the children. Once the Steps to Maturity programme ended, Muriel became an Education Assistant. In 1985-86 she worked full-time in my classroom at Departure Bay School. She worked with two special needs children in my class. I got to know Muriel well. She was a warm, kind, wonderful person. Myself and all the kids in the class were so lucky to have her. I saw her from time to time after that year. The last time was about ten years ago. We got together for coffee. My deepest condolences to you all.
