Heasman

Monique Adrienne Marie nee Monette

February 11, 1928 – December 18, 2018

It is with sadness that we share with you that our Chère “Maman/Mémère”  left us gently on the afternoon of December 18, 2018. She is no longer afraid, no longer having pain, and is now content, comfortable and at peace.

Monique was 1 of 14 children, born to Beatrice and Joseph Monette, in Lac Pelletier Sask.  This lovely and close family was very musical, as well as being great mimics. The Monettes also established the general store and post office in Lac Pelletier. Monique graduated in 1950 as a Registered Nurse at St. Boniface Hospital in Manitoba.  In 1957, as a young mother, she moved to Vancouver Isl. with her one year old daughter, where there were 3 siblings residing.  Monique relished her nursing career, and truly loved caring for her patients.  While nursing at Jubilee Hospital,Victoria B.C. she also specialized in I.V. Therapy. She enjoyed nursing at Aberdeen hospital also in Victoria and Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan.  After a move to Penticton, she worked at Trinity Care Centre.  She returned to the Island and retired to Chemainus with ‘her’ Del around 1988. Before and during her retirement she enjoyed golf, walks, her roses and performing in various musical productions. Thru out her life Monique carried her love of music, singing and of course: the “mimicry”.  She also showed much compassion and a tremendous capacity for love from her beautiful heart.

She is predeceased by her beloved parents, many siblings and her Love: husband Del Heasman, (whom she married in 1973). Monique is survived by her loving daughter Marcelle Ridley (Bruce), cherished Grandsons Kurt (Dear Jen) Marc, and “La petite” great grand daughter Scarlett, beloved brother Andre and sisters Francoise and Marcelle.   Also many nieces and nephews and friends.

Loving Thanks to the nurses and care staff of Cerwydden Care in Duncan.  The devotion, love and kindness shown to my Maman, and I, has been beyond words.  Special Thanks also to Doctor Lorna Cutt for amazing care.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday March 2, 2019 @ 1:00pm at H. W. Wallace Cremation & Burial Centre 5285 Polkey Road, Duncan, BC, when there is the hope of Spring around the corner.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Cowichan Hospice or Alzheimer Society of B.C.

“Je vous aime pour toujours ma belle petite Maman, avec les beaux yeux bruns…Beaux Rêves”

I worked with Monique at CDH….back in the 70’s….I remember when she met Del and the rest is history lol….I use to run into her and Del I the old Overwaitea and she would say to me…you know where Del is…outside smoking hahaha and sure enough….my biggest memory is the way she use to give patients needles, they would never feel them and wondered when they would get it, well, Monique was already finished. We use to have a lot of fun on 3 South….memories
