Tribute

Michael Christian Muenzler (Mike) was born on Oct 24, 1943 to Chris and Lucille in Sacramento, CA. He didn’t meet his dad until the end of WWII in 1945 when he was three years old. Once his dad was home, he soon became a brother of three with the birth of Steve (Diana) and Jan.

As a teenager, Mike was into hot rods and car clubs. In 1963 he was working at a gas station across the street from Vic’s Ice Cream (a popular teenage hangout) when he met Carla. They were married in 1964 and five years later Christopher Jon was born.

In 1974 he immigrated to Vancouver, BC in Canada following his creative interests and became a candle-maker. In Vancouver, Mike met Kay who shared his love for the ocean and wooden boats which led them to Vancouver Island. Soon Samuel Thomas arrived followed a few years later by Matthew Lyn making Mike a father of three sons.

Mike was a professional truck driver, he was an avid aviation enthusiast, and for several years he was a chef at the Genoa Bay Marina which he and Kay owned and operated.

Along with the arrival of his many grandchildren whom he loved, another highlight for Mike was the completion of his 55 Chevy with a 454 big-block.

As a grandfather, Mike married his longtime friend, Helga, and they lived at Hinterquest Manor in Maple Bay for several years. If you visited their lovely home, you would have seen his impressive collection of hundreds of miniature elephants lining the shelves.

Mike will be buried with his wife and love, Helga, to be together forever at the Mountain View Cemetery
