Maureen passed away peacefully on July 29, 2013 with her family by her side at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. Maureen was born in York, England on February 13, 1934 to Anne and Steve Richardson. She moved to Canada at the age of 19 where she met and married George in 1956. She was predeceased by George and her granddaughter Jaimee. Maureen is survived by her children Gail (Ron), Lynn (Michael), Mark and Lee (Sadie) as well as her grandchildren Chris, Daniel, Courtnee, Laura, Jasmine, Kimberley, Jessie and Mikaela, her dog Jake and many close friends.
We would like to thank the CCU staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital for their compassionate care of our Mom and Grandma.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at HW Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre, 5285 Polkey Road, Duncan, BC.

At times like this words are so hard to come by, but to each of you we say: Whether we are friends (old or new), neighbors or acquaintances , and whether we are near or far away. How many times we’ve ate, and shared memories together? Well, NOW IT’S TIME THAT WE GIVE YOU SUPPORT BE IT PRAYERS, HUGS, & IN VARIOUS WAYS! For we see another loss in your family that grieves all of you, losing loving mother and a dear friend to many during her life.
May each of you be strengthen by Romans 15:4 quote, “All the things that were written aforetime were written…., that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope.”And the guarantee of Numbers 23:19 quote, “God is not a man that he should tell lies, Neither a son of mankind that he should feel regret. Has he himself said it and will he not do it, And has he spoken and will he not carry it out?” (unquote) How comforting that we can count on God not to lie to us about what he will do for us.
May peace and hope come in knowing that the God of All Comfort & Tender Mercies, Jehovah, with his son, Jesus, both see your current grief and are deeply pained when life is lost as well. And to give us hope they give us a record of their proven ability to “physically restore on Earth” our loved one’s life at John 11:25, Acts 24:15 & 1 Corinthians 15:26.
MAY THE WISDOM, LOVE AND TIMES SHARED WITH YOUR MOTHER THAT WERE SPECIAL BETWEEN YOU AND HER ALONE. MAY THEY BE ADDED TO YOUR TREASURE CHEST OF MEMORIES OF TIMES SPENT WITH THOSE YOU LOVE ….FOR MEMORIES CAN NEVER BE TAKEN AWAY AND ARE PRICELESS!

I am so sorry to hear of you mom’s passing. We kept up our friendship over the years and had many a laugh over a cup of tea or coffee. We were lucky enough to have had some good old chats in the past year. Take care and all the best to you.
