Mary was born in Vancouver and grew up in Port Alberni, moving to Cowichan in 1976. She loved horses and dogs and was never without either. She competed in Western Events in younger years and bred and showed dogs almost all of her life.In her last decade she became active in girl guides both at the executive level and as a guide leader and had great times with all of her girls.Deepest that to Dr. Malherbe and all the nurses and PCA’s at CDH who cared for Mary in her final weeks.

I am so sorry to learn of Mary’s passing. She was a terrific lady with a great sense of humor. She loved all animals and was so much fun to be with at Dog Shows and Trials. Mary will be missed by so many in the doggy community. Sleep well Mary. God Bless.

From: Linda Wishart
Relation: first cousin on her mothers side

I am very sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. Our families were not close but our mothers were Saunders sisters and both also passed before their time. My thoughts are with the family at this difficult time. I have recently been working on the Saunders family tree and would be more than happy to share it with Mary’s family.
With heartfelt condolences,
Linda Wishart

We were so sorry to read of Mary’s passing. Years ago, we were neighbours in Crofton and our children played together. Then years later, after we moved, Mary took care of our dog’s grooming. She was so kind and loving and always made sure to attach little bows to our dog’s ears! She will be missed by all that knew her. Our hearts go out to all her family members.
