Margaret Hunt
November 11, 1917 - May 24, 2014
Tribute
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret R. Hunt on May 24, 2014 in her 97th year. Born on November 11, 1917 in Claresholm, Alberta to Helen and James Walker, Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bob Hunt, her brothers Jimmy and Roy, her sisters-in-law Joan (Jimmy) and Diana (Keith). She is survived by her brother, Keith Walker and sister-in-law Marie (Roy). Loving mother of Brenda (Wayne McCutcheon) and Walker Hunt (Marianne), Margaret has four grandchildren: Drew (Glenda Rodriguez), Emma (Craig Calvert), Jennifer (Deighton Calverly) and Matthew as well as seven great grandchildren: Ben, Mia, Kaden, Milo, Julia, Danica, and Amelia, all of whom she loved dearly. Over the course of her life, Margaret traveled widely with Bob in his career as a Royal Canadian Air Force officer. They were stationed all across Canada, in Nassau, Germany, France and Sweden. In each posting, they made many friends, with some of whom she kept in touch for the rest of her life. She was a great ambassador for Canada. Margaret will be remembered fondly for her great interest in her family, her humour (oh those jokes! followed by a giggle and a demure smile), her kindness, her generosity, her gracious hospitality (her standing rib roasts were legendary) and her detailed stories. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 1319 Mills Road, North Saanich, BC on May 31, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

I loved Margaret. Here is the prayer she sent to me several years ago:
“dear God,
So far today I’ve done all right; I haven’t gossiped, I haven’t lost my temper, I haven’t been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish or overindulgent. I’m very thankful for that.
But in a few minutes God, I’m going to get out of bed, and from then on, I’m probably going to need a lot more help. Amen.”

Relation: US Army friends who served in Stckholm and kept contact
I was saddened to hear of Margaret’s passing. We have been telephone and Christmas Card friends since 1972 after our tour of duty in Stockholm. Margaret was a fun loving, sweet person and I will
greatly miss her.
