Tribute

Delahunt: Lynette M.(nee) Freeman; passed away peacefully October 09, 2010. Born August 18, 1924 in Sussex England. She married a Canadian stationed in England at a young age and served in the Canadian Air Force in England in the photography dept. until 1945.
She came to Canada in 1945 and worked her way across from Quebec to British Columbia. While working as a whistle punk in a logging camp on Vancouver Island she met her second husband and father of her 7 children (W. David “Del” Delahunt).
Lynette worked as an usher at the old Odeon Theatre in Duncan, she ran the SPCA for many years from her home on Inverarity Road. After her last child was born in Cowichan Station she went into Real Estate. The family moved from Cowichan Station to Victoria where Lynette became one of the top 10 realtors in 1983.
Later Lynette moved back to Cobble Hill and pursued Real Estate until she retired and became the Cobble Hill Market “Book Lady”. She had a table at the market and sold books and nick knacks until she could no longer carry the heavy boxes.
In her later years she spent her days in her garden with her dogs.
She will be lovingly remembered for her colorful personality by many friends and family. Children: Craig (Gloria), Carly (Art) Dertien, Mike Glen, Libby (Kent) Ball, Duncan (Heather) Noel and Jamie. Grandchildren: Chris, Kim, Zachary, Adam, Delaney, Levi, Leo, Hannah and Great grandchildren Rio, Tuli, Alegra and Caitlyn.
Thank you to the nurses and staff at the Lodge on 4th.

Dear Duncan and family,
My condolences on the loss of your mother. Though I never had the pleasure of meeting her in person I caught a glimpse of her sparkle through the stories Delaney would tell her Aunt Roz and I. I hope you are all comforted by your memories of her.
