Tribute
Trapler: Louis
We have lost our special Dad, husband, brother and grandfather to cancer on May 9, 2011. Louis was born in 1933 in Poland. His family fled the harsh wartime conditions for Germany in 1945, and he eventually emigrated to Chicago in 1951. He moved to Lloydminster, Saskatchewan in 1952 to be reunited with his parents, and trained as an accountant to work as an office manager for a Calgary oil company. He spent 1958 and 1959 touring Europe on a scooter, and returned to Canada to attend the University of Alberta where he obtained a degree in Education. In 1960 he met the love of his life, Val, at a dance in Edmonton. They married in 1961 and three children followed, Susan, Len(Lesley) and Dan. They moved to Duncan in 1966, and after a career as a schoolteacher in Edmonton, Duncan and Australia, he left the classroom for a career in real-estate and self employment. Louis retired early to spend more time travelling with Val, his loving wife of 49 years.
Dad took pleasure in the simple things in life. When not making fish soup, gardening, trying to fix things or sampling the newest all-you-can-eat buffet, he would be planning his next trip with Val.
He cared so much about his family and never stopped looking after us, even in sickness. We never thought we would be without his knowledgeable company, sense of fun and adventure and readiness to help us as our predictable, steady, businesslike guy. We will be reminded of you often and always with much love, and you will be forever in our thoughts and memories.
Louis leaved behind 3 children Susan, Len (Lesley) and Dan. He also leaves behind two Grandchildren, Jack and Grace who he adored and spoiled, and a brother Wilford (Anita), and many relatives in Poland and Germany. The family wishes to send many thanks to Dr. Sanders and the wonderful Home Care Nursing Team for their excellent care and compassion durimg Louis’ illness.
