Lorrie Rederburg

January 8, 1965 - November 12, 2022

Tribute

Beloved wife, mother, and friend Lorrie Rederburg passed away peacefully at age 57 on Saturday, November 12th at Cowichan District Hospital.

Lorrie was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario. After graduating high school, Lorrie moved to Toronto to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree at York University. There, she met her future husband, Wendell Rederburg, and the two were engaged within two years and married in Wendell’s hometown of Regina on August 28, 1993.

The newlyweds followed Wendell’s brother, Perry to Vancouver Island, where they bought a home in Langford, and soon had two daughters and a son: Tess (1997), Wynn (1999), and Chase (2005). The family relocated to Cowichan Bay in 2007.

Lorrie would do anything for her kids. She attended every one of her son’s hockey games and drove her girls to dance and music lessons. Lorrie hosted Girl Guide meetings, birthday parties, and sleepovers. She strongly encouraged their love of reading with frequent visits to the library and local bookstores, and supported both her daughters through university degrees.

Lorrie loved cuddly pigs, Greek food, and making adventurous travel plans, but most of all, she was focused on her family. She had a sharp mind, a quick wit, a positive attitude, and a dedicated heart that none will too easily forget. Lorrie is survived by her husband, Wendell, and her three children: Tess, Wynn, and Chase.

Lorrie’s family would like to thank Nurses James and Allison from 2 South at Cowichan District Hospital for their exceptional compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 18th from 2-5pm at The HUB at Cowichan Station. Please bring a card with your favourite memory of Lorrie for her family to have.

Relation: We grew up together, best friends for many years

Sending condolences to Lorrie’s husband and children. Lorrie grew up across the street from me, we were inseparable throughout our childhood and teen years. Oh the adventures we had (or should I say misadventures), we had soo much fun together. Although I hadn’t seen her in many years, she was never far from my thoughts. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile and heart will forever be missed

Everyone at Peninsula Minor Hockey would like to pass along their condolences to the Rederberg family, especially Chase, who was a valued member of the Peninsula U18 Tier 3 team in 2020 and the U15 Tier 3 team in 2019. We know how much Lorrie would do for her kids, including taking Chase to practices at Panorama twice a week.

Wendell and family…I am so sorry to hear of Lorrie’s passing. We had fun when we worked for the provincial government. She was the little “cutie” of the group. Rest in Peace Lorrie ❤️

Our deepest condolence to Wendall and his family.
Lorrie was such a beautiful and kind soul.
I met her when our kids played hockey together and she was so welcoming and fun to talk with while we cheered our team on.
We have all been blessed to have had Lorrie in our lives and although she will be missed so dearly, I like to think her children and family and all of her friends now have an angel watching over them.
Rest In Peace Lorrie.

Dear Wendell and family
My sincerest & heartfelt condolences. Lori & I crossed paths over the course of a few decades and even though I didn’t spend alot of time with her I considered her my friend & a kindred spirit. Such a beautiful smile & warm personality. My thoughts are with you & your family 🌺 Michelle Lewers

Memories of Lorrie are so many, having the privilege of being family. The love for her children was incredible, never a more involved or proud mother. Lorrie gave the courage, strength and foundation for her children to succeed and was so unbelievably proud of their success. Shoe shopping was always a highlight, needed or not!! Wendell, Tess, Wynn, and Chase know we are always here with an Italian meal on the table and a big hug!! ❤️❤️ Sending love…
