Lorrie Rederburg
January 8, 1965 - November 12, 2022
Tribute
Beloved wife, mother, and friend Lorrie Rederburg passed away peacefully at age 57 on Saturday, November 12th at Cowichan District Hospital.
Lorrie was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario. After graduating high school, Lorrie moved to Toronto to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree at York University. There, she met her future husband, Wendell Rederburg, and the two were engaged within two years and married in Wendell’s hometown of Regina on August 28, 1993.
The newlyweds followed Wendell’s brother, Perry to Vancouver Island, where they bought a home in Langford, and soon had two daughters and a son: Tess (1997), Wynn (1999), and Chase (2005). The family relocated to Cowichan Bay in 2007.
Lorrie would do anything for her kids. She attended every one of her son’s hockey games and drove her girls to dance and music lessons. Lorrie hosted Girl Guide meetings, birthday parties, and sleepovers. She strongly encouraged their love of reading with frequent visits to the library and local bookstores, and supported both her daughters through university degrees.
Lorrie loved cuddly pigs, Greek food, and making adventurous travel plans, but most of all, she was focused on her family. She had a sharp mind, a quick wit, a positive attitude, and a dedicated heart that none will too easily forget. Lorrie is survived by her husband, Wendell, and her three children: Tess, Wynn, and Chase.
Lorrie’s family would like to thank Nurses James and Allison from 2 South at Cowichan District Hospital for their exceptional compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 18th from 2-5pm at The HUB at Cowichan Station. Please bring a card with your favourite memory of Lorrie for her family to have.

Chander’s and my sincerest condolences to the Rederburg family. Lorrie was one of my closest friends during university (and bridesmaid at my wedding) and I will always remember her gorgeous smile, quick laugh, wicked sense of humour, fun-loving nature, generous spirit, and deep love of Wendell, her mother and her sister. She was unique in every way, and I am sadder than I can say to learn she is gone. Rest in peace, my friend.
