Lorraine Woodruff

August 13, 1944 - January 29, 2016

Tribute

Lorraine was survived by Dad, who passed away 24 days later. Both are survived by their Daughters; Deanna (Scotty), Sharon (Sean) and Janice (Jayson), Granddaughter Loreen, Grandsons; William and Jakeb, as well as numerous Nieces and Nephews. Lorraine is also survived by her sister Min and William by his sister Linda -Jane, as well as his brother Jimmy.

Throughout the Fifty Plus Years they were in the Valley, Mom worked for BC Hydro and Herb Doman, then later at the Legion and Elks Club. Woody stayed with family business; E&M Machine Works which is now Promac Manufacturing. Rumor has it, he may have been sold along with the company.

Both Mom and Dad were involved in the local sports community, where Dad was inducted into the North Cowichan Sports Wall of Fame in 2013 on behalf of the Chemainus Blues, as well as a member of the CVGC for many years. Mom was always at the rink, either with Dad and his hockey or with us three girls while we figure skated.

Mom was involved with the LA TO BR.53 RCL lady’s aux, as well as the Cowichan pipe band in their early years. Mom fought a very hard battle with cancer right to end, where dad had found out only two months before his passing the as well had cancer.

At both their requests there will not be a service. Many thanks to Jack Cotterill, Butch & Elaine, Mom and Dad’s rock through this., to Debi, Dianna and Kari for visiting with Mom, Uncle Pat and Tommy Gamble for their visits and to Gen for always being there for the both of them.

You were both taken away from us girls too soon, our lives will never be the same without you both in it.

We Love You Forever and Always.

H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre Staff send our condolences to family and friends.

From: Dana Jordan
Relation: Cousin

Condolences to you Deanna, Sharon & Janice & your families! Did not know of your Mom & Dad’s passing until now & am so saddened by it! Your Mom & Auntie Mable were a good part of our family as we were growing up in Prince Rupert! Forever remembered in my heart! So sorry for your loss!

From: Holly Cooper (Formerly Holly Resch)
Relation: Friend

I was friends with Lorraine (Lori to me) as part of the figure skating community since Lori’s daughter Deanna was a figure skater with my daughter Michelle. Lorraine was involved as a member of the Kerry Park Figure Skating Board as the club was being formed and as an ongoing member and supporter of the club. Although our friendship was for only a few years, it remains a very fond memory for me. My deepest condolences to the family for the loss of both their parents only weeks apart. I know they will remain in your hearts forever.

From: Dianne Jacobson (Kozak)
Relation: Relationship - How did you know the deceased?

I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you all; I will keep you in my prayers. May you find God’s strength during this time of devastation.

From: Dianne Connerly
Relation: Trained Lori at BC Hydro.

I am so sorry to read the obituary for Lorraine (Lori as I knew her) along with her husband, Woody of many years. I was Lori’s bridesmaid/matron of honour when she and Woody got married. My sincere condolences go out to Deanna, Sharon, Janice and their families on the loss of their parents. May Lori and Woody rest in peace.
