Lois Beryl Garnett (nee Forrester)

October 20, 1930 - November 28, 2022

Tribute

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Lois Beryl Garnett (nee Forrester) in Duncan on November 28, 2022.

Lois was born on October 20, 1930 and grew up in Aneroid, Saskatchewan and Regina, Saskatchewan. She moved to Victoria to attend nursing school where she met her husband of 53 years, Grant Garnett. She was an avid traveller well into her late 70s, having made many trips, including Mexico, Europe, Russia, South America, Australia, China, the Arctic and Antartica.

Lois was known for her love of music. She, along with Grant, played piano and violin for local dances when they lived in Bamfield. She was also dedicated to the community, helping people find housing, volunteering at the Mill Bay Country Music Festival, and much more. She also took in 4 foster children. She had a very good sense of humour and wasn’t afraid of the occasional dirty joke. She was the ultimate recycler, re-user, and reducer.

She was also known for baking the world’s best apple pie. However, there is some debate within the family that it may be the world’s best blackberry pie.

Lois is predeceased by her husband Grant, and 3 sons, Bradley, Blair and Tim, and leaves behind her sons: David (Karen), Stephen (Karen) and Murray, her grandchildren: Heather, Alison, Timothy, Craig and Simon, and her 6 great grandchildren.

A special thanks to the staff at Cerwydden Seniors Community in Duncan. Your kindness and compassion will always be remembered and you made her remaining time enjoyable. A special thanks to her many friends who spent hours visiting and playing cards with her.

Lois will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In accordance with her wishes there will be no memorial ceremony. A private family service will be held. Flowers are gratefully declined.

Relation: Through Steve and Grant, and just the community in general.

To All the Garnett Family. We met Grant and Lois early upon moving to Mill Bay in 1977. Lois came to many and most of our concerts and we enjoyed seeing her there. One year, our group came to the Garnett home and played and sang for Grant. I assume it must have been his birthday – Steve will remember. We had a pool party at their home one year as well, again through the fire hall. We always felt comfortable. We are both sorry for your loss. With much affection and connection, Brenda and Cliff
