Leslie Anne Stewart
Tribute
Leslie Anne Stewart of Cobble Hill passed away peacefully and suddenly on Friday, November 8, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer.
Leslie was born in Welland Ontario in 1976. She grew up in Fort Erie Ontario where, from an early age, she enjoyed and excelled in sports, music and academics. She attended Queen’s University to study Engineering and started her career in Ontario’s nuclear industry. Seeking a more human element to her career, Leslie completed a Masters in Adult Education at the University of Toronto, and began a new career in Health Care. Around that time, Leslie met Bruce and they began to make plans for their life together.
After a brief time in Calgary, Bruce and Leslie purchased True Grain Bread and relocated to the Cowichan Valley in BC. They were welcomed into an amazing community and celebrated the arrival of their daughters Monica (2009) and Fiona (2011). Leslie and Bruce took great pride in raising their beautiful girls.
As their daughters grew up, Leslie was excited to pursue a Masters degree in Clinical Counseling at City University and she embarked on a new, rewarding career path as a mental health professional.
Leslie was a wonderful mother, a beautiful sister and daughter, a true friend and a loving aunt to eighteen amazing nieces and nephews. She touched the lives of all who knew her and will long be remembered for her genuine spirit, compassion, generosity, sense of humour and wisdom.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce, daughters Monica and Fiona, parents William and Patricia Vernooy, and brothers David (Stephanie), Matt (Mary) and sisters Cathy (Elton) and Liz (Marcel).
