Les Seward
March 12, 1929 - February 2, 2017
Tribute
Dad passed away on a Thursday evening after a few weeks in hospital. He came to Sherwood House in Duncan in 2012 to be near his daughter and grandchildren, returning to the Island after meeting his wife Michele Inman in Nanaimo as teachers in the late 1960s.
Originally from Strome and Westlock, Alberta, Les raised his family in Langley, BC, and lived there 40 years. Upon arriving in Duncan, he immediately took up carpet bowling at the Valley Seniors Organization on Government Street and became a regular fixture at any seniors' dance in the area. Les actively enjoyed many of the things that the Duncan area has to offer, in particular walking daily through the Centennial Park area, and attending the Saturday market downtown and Duncan United Church. He especially enjoyed theatre and music performances at the Chemainus Theatre, the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre, and the 39 Days of July; he also looked forward to the monthly For The Love of Words, held at the Duncan Showroom.
Les made many friends in Duncan, and in addition is survived by his children, Mireille (Mark) Isaak and Elliott Seward (of Abbotsford); his grandchildren, Jessica Seward and John, Aevia, and Amelia Isaak; his youngest brother, Peter Seward, of Westlock, AB; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom he enjoyed a great deal.
A celebration of his life will be held at New Life Community Baptist Church (1839 Tzouhalem Rd), on Saturday, February 25, at 1:30pm.
