Leah Clarke La Flam (Gromme)

March 6, 1949 - September 22, 2014

Tribute

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother and grandmother after a long courageous battle with ALS, on September 22, 2014 at home surrounded by family. Leah was born on March 6, 1949 in San Francisco, California, and made the Cowichan Valley her home over the last forty years.

Leah will be remembered as an unconditionally loving and compassionate mother, and for her exceptional talents in baking, sewing, bead crafting and lamp making. Family was always Leah’s #1 priority and this was felt by all those who loved her. She did everything possible to shelter her sons and grandson from life’s tribulations and always sought to bring them happiness and peace.

She is survived by her loving husband and friend, Guy La Flam, and her four sons and grandson, who all loved her deeply and will miss her greatly. Her family would like to recognize the unbreakable bond Leah and her father had, and the comfort and affection he gave her through all the years. She truly cherished their relationship.

Leah was also blessed to have the most wonderful friends that anyone could ask for. She held those friendships close to her heart, had innumerable joyous moments with them and they were always there for her when she needed them.

A Celebration of Life will be held with her close friends and family on the land which she loved so much. She will be profoundly missed and remembered fondly.

Relation: my daughter's friends

Leah’s sons were friends of my daughter Karma, when we lived in Cowichan Station many years ago. I remember well the tour Leah gave me of the family’s lovely farm and gardens. Such a beautiful place to raise your boys.I wish I had known Leah better, she had a huge heart and always wore a smile that made me feel like I did. I am saddened to hear of your loss. God speed and much love, may your wife and mom rest in peace. Love. xoxoxo

I was saddened by the news of Leah’s passing. It was a pleasure working with her when I taught her boys at Cowichan Station school. Leah was such a strong advocate for her kids and she was very supportive to me as their teacher. I appreciated her warmth, her passion and her humour. I send my condolences and warmest wishes to the family.

Leah was a strong loving mother and grandmother. Her strength showed in her everyday caring and participation in her children’s lives. She was funny and realistic and involved. I appreciated her involvement in her children’s education.
