Larry Donald Beaulieu
November 27, 1954 - September 13, 2025
Tribute
It is with heavy sorrow and pain that we announce the passing of a man of great integrity, honesty, trust, and strength.
Larry passed away in Duncan, B.C., in his loving wife Cheri’s arms, after a fierce 2-year battle with laryngeal cancer.
Larry is predeceased by his father Lomer (1993), brother Ivan (2015), brother George (2020), and brother Gilbert (2022).
Larry was born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick and his family moved to Milton Ontario when he was a child. Larry at a young age (Beaulieu Roofing), learnt the trade that would end up giving him his career of over 50 years. A hard-working man through and through, he was known for his steady work ethic, generous heart, humble demeanor, and unwavering dedication to the people around him. In all his years of being a roofer, all his clients found him by word of mouth, the phone never stopped ringing.
Larry was a man whose handshake was his word, this showed through the quality of his work, and he was incredibly respected by many.
A jock in high school, Larry won many trophies for his athletic talents. His passion for baseball never left him and he was proud to call many of his friends’ his teammates. He was also fiercely competitive, whether it was on the sports field or playing family games, which gave him so much joy and laughter. He had a passion and talent for playing cards and hosted many games at home with his friends.
Larry was Master of Ceremonies for every family wedding wearing his famous burgundy jacket that was originally his dress jacket when he was a young volunteer fire fighter. He often bragged that “it still fit”.
Larry’s happy place was on a beach in Mexico, people watching and diving into the waves. His main happy place, however, was being with his family. Family was everything to him.
The strength and determination that Larry showed throughout this devasting journey amazed every doctor he saw and every client for whom he continued to do work, during and after treatments and surgery. His tenacity and stubbornness were beyond belief. He truly believed that giving up was not an option and every medical staff said he is an amazing man.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Cheri of 40 years and their children Matthew Beaulieu (Eva) & Lindsay Hollinger (James). Papa to Audrey and Lexi.
He also leaves his children Tara Beaulieu & Blair Beaulieu (Kari). Grandpa to Ella, Isaak, Molly and Owen.
Larry is lovingly remembered by his family, Monique Beaulieu (mom), Diane Beaulieu (sister), Cindy Gillies (sister), Ron Beaulieu (brother) and their families.
The family would like to thank everyone that showed love and support throughout Larry’s cancer journey: Dr. Mark Sanders; Dr. Roy Cheung; Dr. Sena Turkogan; the staff at Victoria Cancer Clinic; Royal Jubilee Hospital; Cowichan District Hospital; Cowichan Hospice; and in addition, the amazing support from our family and dear friends.
A proud son, husband, father, Papa, Grandpa and friend, Larry has left a huge hole in the hearts of everyone, he will be missed and loved forever.
Arrangements were made through H.W. Wallace.

So sorry to read of Larry’s passing. Heartfelt condolences to Cheri and family.
I played high school sports with Larry and remember his tenaciousness. A vivid memory I have of Larry is when as “miner niners,”we practiced with the senior football team as they prepared for a playoff game. Larry wasn’t that much bigger than me, but could he ever tackle. Playing linebacker, one time he went up against fullback Pete Roberts, who was older and bigger than the both of us put together. Pete came bursting through the line where Larry got a hold of his ankle, hung on for dear life and brought him down for a short gain. Smaller but tough as nails. The senior players and coaches were impressed.
I don’t think Larry played hockey until high school when he played house league. He wasn’t a strong skater, but he’d get to front of the opposition net and if he got his stick on the puck, it was in the net. A scrappy player you couldn’t move. Don Cherry would have loved him.
I think these two stories capture the spirit and essence of Larry as many of us remember him.
Rest In Peace Larry.
