Kenney Dorothy
August 9, 1925 - June 16, 2011
Tribute
Kenney Dorothy Freada: born August 9, 1925 passed away peacefully on June 16, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband Douglas Arthur in 1995. Dorothy is survived by her loving daughters, Becky (Don), Pat and Debbie (Mario); grandchildren, Dean, Tara (Darryl), Corrine and Mark and great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Danny. She is also survived by her brother, Lannie and sisters-in-law Marie and Delores Sumners as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a kind, loving and generous lady. Family was the center of her life and she loved family gatherings – one of which she attended just four days before her death. We will all miss the smell of her homemade bread and apple pies!
The family would like to thank Dr. Dan Phillipson for his many years of care and compassion and also the folks at The Meadows where she very much enjoyed living.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 486 Jubilee Street Duncan, British Columbia on Monday June 27, 2011 at 2:00p.m. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com

Grannie Kenney will be greatly missed. She was quiet at family functions, but quick witted enough to get her two cents in when she felt it necessary! I think she was one of the very few people who never got Tanya and my names mixed up! She was welcoming to all and loved by many.

Aunt Dorothy was such a kind lady. I will never forget that she phoned each one of us when our Mom (Anne Kenney died) This was such a kind thing to do which meant alot. I think Aunt Dorothy did alot of these things in her lifetime. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Love Ruth Kenney & Family.

Dear Becky, Trish and Debbie and families;
We are thinking about each of you and sending our love. I wish we could attend Auntie Dorothy’s service but just know that we will hold you in our hearts on Monday and in the days to come. I imagine Auntie Dorothy sitting quietly in a kitchen in Heaven listening to Uncle Chris, Uncle Archie and Dad telling their stories! I know her departure will leave a huge void in your lives but knowing she was such a strong beautiful lady will bring you peace and time will slowly wipe away the tears. Never forgotten and always loved! God bless you all. Love Lori

Whenever I think of Granny Kenney pickled onions and potatoe salad pop into my mind. She was a loved member of our extended family.

When I think of Dot, I remember as a young girl going to the Kenny home and the smell of freshly baked bread cooling on the counter and being offered a warm slice with butter. When we would come for a visit after Dot moved to Duncan, she and her family always made us feel so welcome over a cup of tea, a turkey dinner, or Chinese food, followed by Dots’ desserts. She was a wonderful person and will be truly missed and I will think of Dot reuniting with my parents and challenging my Mom to a game of crib. Love, Lana and Alf
