Kenneth Chow

August 2, 1966 - January 31, 2014

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken, our beloved son and brother. He will forever be missed by his family, relatives and dear friends.

Ken was born in Duncan, BC on August 2nd, 1966. He is survived by his parents Wai Dai (Willie) and Yuk Lin (Zenia) Chow and siblings, Robert, Ann (Norman), Joyce (Alex), and Gordon, and numerous relatives.

Ken remained living in Duncan most of his life. Though he did spend short time periods in Vancouver to attend college and work, he always returned to his hometown. Ken was an entrepreneur having opened Duncan's very first skateboard shop, Natural Progression Surf & Skate in the mid 1980s. In later years he started up his own window tinting business which he operated up until his death.

Ken was an adventurous spirit. In his youth, he took up high energy pursuits such as  skateboarding, snowboarding, and motorcycles.  However his most treasured pastime was spending time on a boat pursuing his love of fishing. Ken will be remembered by his family as a loving person with a generous heart.

We welcome family and friends to stop by and join us for a gathering at HW Wallace Centre on Sunday, February 9th between the hours of 11am-1pm. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation. We thank those who supported Ken in his life.

Ken, we love you and will miss you deeply. Let your mind and heart be at peace.

Kenny was a huge inspiration to me in my teenage years. I was one of the many BMX riders that spent countless hours riding the ramp that was across the road from the Chow’s house. Kenny always pushed us to achieve higher goals than we believed were possible. I will forever remember his incredible sense of humor and is bright spirit.

My heart goes out to Gord and his parents. Kenny was such a huge part of life during my early skateboard years. He had such amazing style on his board and always encouraged me to push myself on my board. I’m very proud to say Natural Progression was my first sponsor. Growing up in Nanaimo, I always felt like Duncan was my second home. It was Kenny and Gord that made me feel at home there. Kenny was an integral part of who and where I am at today. I’m so saddened by his passing and want to send a huge hug to Gord and his family.
