Tribute
Shairp, Keith
It is with great sadness Keith has passed away September 08, 2010 peacefully at home.
Keith was a gentleman and respected by all that knew him. Keith was raised in White Fox, Saskatchewan and in 1943 at 17 years of age, with encouragement from his friend Craig Foster, he came to Victoria where he joined the navy. After the war he worked in the logging industry in Caycuse on Cowichan Lake. His longtime friendship came from those roots. And through Dot and Leo Desjardins he met Marge his soul mate of 38 years. Keith and Marge built their life together starting in Sooke. Keith worked for 22 years in the dockyard in Victoria as a Rigger, retiring from there to Chemainus. With Marge, Keith had a great passion for their life together, family, friends, activities and travels. Many memories stemmed from baseball, golf, senior games, crib and group trips to the casinos. He loved his family and his extended families. He was predeceased by his wife Marge in January 2010, his sister Ruah Stark 1997 and his sister Kay Phelps 1967. He is survived by his niece Sharyn Peters, great nephew Stephen Peters, great niece Holly Cecconi, niece Pamella Martin, great niece Jenny Harnett, nephew Albert Robinson, his step-son Mike (Lorene) Blackstock, his grand children Nathan, Ryan, and Megan (Jake) Blackstock, Garrett Clayton and Lindsay Clayton and great grandson Tegan Clayton. Keith and Marge would like to acknowledge their community friends at their home in “Station Ridge” Chemainus,Mary and Oli Barefoot, Unice Jones, Mary Karliner, Cory Suter and all. As per Keith’s request no service will be held. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Salvation Army 280 Trans Canada Hwy. Duncan, BC V9L 3R1. From: Bergi & Bill Jones
Relation: Friends from Sooke
Both Keith and Marge were good friends – we travelled together, played
golf and cards – had a lot of laughs. Many memories we shall hold onto. They were an exceptional couple.
From: Earl Simons
Relation: Nephew of Marg
While we did not get a chance to meet Keith, we did try for several years to find he and our Auntie Marg (unfortunately we did not have the correct spelling of his name) Please pass our condolences on to Keith’s Family and should Auntie Marg’s son Mike ever want some old photos (taken by my Dad, Gordon) feel free to contact me.
