Tribute

Kathleen Gwendolynn Conley

November 15, 1952- September 13, 2019

Kathy was born in Birch River, Manitoba on November 15, 1952 to D. Elinor Conley (nee Eastman) and Atlin Ansell Conley. She passed away in the early morning on Friday, September 13, 2019, after a long battle with liver and kidney disease.

Kathy is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Adrice Clamp, David (Jackie) Conley, Charlotte Hollings-Alexander, Shirley (Rob) George, and Mark Conley, her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, brother Edward Hollings and nephew Stefan Conley.

Kathy grew up in Duncan and after high school worked various jobs until the spring of 1981 when she attended Capernwray Bible College. Capernwray was a special place for Kathy, she had wonderful memories of her time there and made very special lifelong friends.

In the late 80s, Kathy opened up Kathy’s Korner Café, in the Sun Valley Mall. She loved cooking, inventing new recipes and very much enjoyed the time she spent with her customers. When the Café closed she moved up to WhippleTree Junction where she spent a few years working at Boardwalk Gallery & Gifts before moving over to The Whippletree General Store. Kathy spent almost a decade at Whippletree. She loved her customers and the time that she spent with them. In 2007, Kathy had to make the hard decision to leave WhippleTree after being diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully the doctors were able to remove the cancer but Kathy’s liver and kidneys were starting to show signs of failure. Kathy then fought a long hard battle but throughout it all her faith kept her strong. We will miss her so much but are comforted to know that she is finally at peace.

Our Family would like to thank the nursing staff at Cowichan District Hospital for taking such great care of our sister/aunt. We would also like to thank the home care workers and nurses that helped her out this past summer.

Our family will be honouring Kathy’s wishes and there will be no service or memorial at this time.
