Joseph (Joe) Jr. Svetich

Tribute
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joseph Jr, (Joe)
Svetich. With his family at his side, Joe passed away peacefully
on May 22, 2014. Pre-deceased by his parents, Milka and
Joseph and brother Martin. Joe is survived by his devoted and
loving wife of 45 years, Milka, his children, Mary Ann (Scott),
Susan (Mike), Michael (Julia) his sister Mary, brother John
(Audrey), sister-in-law Anna, nieces & nephews, and many
relatives in Croatia.
The later years brought Joe (Deda) his special little angels;
Kristina, Antonio, Cassia, James, Connor & Lukas. His
grandchildren brought him immense joy and he treasured every
minute spent with them.
Joe was born in Razvanusa, Croatia on March 9th, 1929. He
immigrated to Canada with his Mom and brother, Martin in
1938 to reunite with his father, Joseph, who had immigrated 10
years earlier to start a new life for the family.
Joe’s career as an apprentice Machinist started out at Hillcrest
Lumber Co. He then moved on to spend the majority of his
career as a Millwright Foreman at Western Forest Products.
Upon the mill’s closing, Joe spent the remainder of his career
working for Mayo Forest Products.
Joe was a dedicated family man, who demonstrated his love
by providing for the family. His passions were farming, fishing,
hunting, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
He had a great love for all his special animals.
Dad leaves behind many long time family and friends, whose
hearts he touched throughout his life.
Prayers will be offered at H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial,
5285 Polkey Road, Duncan, BC on Friday, May 30th, 2014
at 7pm. Mass for the Christian Burial of the Dead will be
celebrated at St. Edwards Catholic Church Saturday, May 31,
2014 at 11am, Fr. Alfredo Monacelli officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or
Canadian Red Cross, Victoria Branch are appreciated. Online
