John Evenett Scott

August 16, 1955 - September 9, 2025

Tribute

John Evenett Scott, born August 16, 1955 died peacefully at home holding his wife’s hand, in the early morning hours of September 9, 2025, at the age of seventy.
Born in Paisley, Scotland, Johnny immigrated to Canada in 1973 – landing in Ontario, he would spend nearly a decade there before travelling west to Alberta for numerous years and finally further west to Crofton, Vancouver Island, British Columbia to live the best years of his life.
He is survived by his one love and life partner, Lisa, his oldest daughter (in Ontario) Kelly Richardson (David), his second daughter (in Alberta) Jenna Sullivan (Corey), their daughter Emma (Josh Benson), his step-son Brandon Bonke and two granddaughters, McKade Richardson and Penelope Benson (aka Penny-Penny). He also leaves behind to grieve his loss, his older brothers Robert and Jim, sisters Helen and Alison and a younger brother Sean (Jennifer), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends, whose lives were enriched by his fierce love, loyalty and laughter.
Johnny was predeceased by his father Robert Scott, his mother Mary Walker Scott and his younger brother Alan Scott.
While we can no longer touch him or hear him, Johnny is with us everyday. We feel him in the wind from the wings of a butterfly and see him in the fairy dust on the back of a dragonfly. He whispers to us from the roses and smiles at us from the sunflowers. We toast him with a wee nippy-sweetie to remind ourselves that his love and light are not gone from here but are in another place which we cannot yet see.
Johnny would say that he lives on until the last person who remembers him, has passed…
Forever holding your hand, Johnny! xo xo

At Johnny’s request there will be no service. A boxer and a fighter until the end, in lieu of flowers, please make a generous donation to the BC Cancer Foundation, in his honour.
