John Frederick Francis

Tribute
Sadly the family announces the passing of John on December 15, 2012 at the Chemainus Health Care Centre at the age of 78. Born in Surrey, England, John came to Chemainus at the age of 14. In 1953 John met Mary in Duncan and they were married a year later. At age 60 he retired from the Chemainus Sawmill where he worked as a sawyer. As a child John developed a love for hockey and the outdoors which he carried with him all his life. John was a generous and thoughtful man who always supported less fortunate children abroad. John would drive his motor home to Mexico loaded with toys and bikes strapped to the roof to give to the children. In retirement John enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona. Loving husband to Mary of 58 years. Proud father to Dale (Rachel), Steve (Jackie), Mike (Kim), Rob (Sabrina) and Michelle (Mike Newsom), Grandpa to 12 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. Dear brother to Ron, Bob and Frankie (deceased). Following John’s wishes he will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.
