John Dobie

Tribute
It is with great sadness that the family of John Dobie announce his passing on October 18th at the age of 73.
John was predeceased by his father Earl, mother Alma, and brother Don. John is survived by his wife of 53 years Barb and his two children Kathy (Tony) and Sherry (Dirk). He will be dearly missed by his siblings, his brother Al (Anita), sister Sharon and his 4 grandchildren Kristina (Sam), Steven (Sharon), Jeremy, and Gavin and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. John started logging at age 17 at Caycuse (BCFP) and retired in 1997 (Teal Jones). He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening and making model ships from scratch. He did the Bluenose, Cutty Sark, and the Constitution and they are all works of art.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 1:00 PM at H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre, 5285 Polkey Road, Duncan , BC

Dearest Barb, Kathy, Sherry and family,
I’ve known your family such a long time being one of the Eaton’s crowd and always admired your close and loving bond. Barb, you spoke of John so much with such love and I know your hearts must be hurting tremendously. I wish I could see you to give a big hug but I’m in Cowichan Hospital and must send my love through my daughter Valerie to you. I also wish I could give words of hope and comfort at this very delicate time in your lives but please know I am with you. Barb, Kathy, Sherry and all of your beautiful family. My heart goes out to you all. I have wonderful memories of John when we were teenagers. He also got me interested in planting tomatoes. I couldn’t believe how wonderful his home grown tomatoes were. I wish I could be there with you all. Sending you all love!
