John Coupland left us on Sept 4,2013.
He was born in Merritt B.C. on Nov 22, 1920.He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorothy, sister Isa Peterson in Medford Oregon, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Jean Webb, Jessie Duncan, Mary Evans and his brother George .The family moved to Ladysmith and then to Duncan in 1929. John lived on the same property for the rest of his life.He worked at MacMillan Bloedel, Copper Canyon division, for most of his working life and was a member of Mount Brenton Golf course for many years.Johnny was in the Royal Canadian Engineers during WW2 in Europe and a member of the Chemainus branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.A true gentleman, he was blessed with a memory like no others and never ran out of new things to tell everyone. Always with a smile !!He took great pleasure in his family, his many friends and all of their children over the years. He watched most sports, loved to garden and loved and cared for his dog, Bandit, who was his constant companion.He also had a lifelong love and great knowledge of airplanes and recently enjoyed spending the day at the Comox Air Show.The family would like to give a special thank you to his homecare giver, Lanna, and to the girls from We Care, who cared for him so well over the last few years.Thank you also to the nurses and staff at CDH who cared so well for Johnny.No flowers but donations to Cowichan District Hospital Foundation if so desired.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at H.W.Wallace Centre on Saturday Sept 14, 2:00-4:00 pm on 5285 Polkey Rd in Duncan.

Sorry to see of John passing on, used to see him at the golf course once in awhile, many years have passed since I bowled with John, attended a few tournaments with him, was on a team with him then. Great fellow, good memories.
