John Bradbury

November 10, 1957 - January 17, 2022

John went peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour with family members by his side.

John was born to Dave and Margaret Bradbury in Nakuru, Kenya.  The family immigrated to Canada in 1961, when John was three years old.  His parents built up a large poultry farm in Mill Bay which John managed from 2007 until 2014.

In his youth he was active in Ventures and won the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. John was a huge fan of rugby and was a member of the Cowichan Rugby Club.  He graduated from Cowichan High School, went on to study at the University of Victoria, and later worked for 32 years at the Crofton Pulp and Paper Mill until his retirement in 2011 as a highly valued Instrument Mechanic.

John met his wife Diane in1983 and they began their life together in 1985. He was an amazing husband, stepfather and grandfather to his granddaughters Teagan and Danielle.  His wife and family brought him so much joy. In addition to his own family, he had a heart for young people, counselling and encouraging them.  He also opened his heart and home to special needs children.

He had a passion for music and composed his own songs, playing his guitar and singing at church gatherings. He was an avid reader, and a life- long learner.

John believed in giving back to the community.  He had a willingness to help others, an easy going manner and was known for his loyalty, his love of life, love of people, and especially his infectious laugh.  He held an unwavering faith in God which he shared with those who surrounded him.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Diane, Step daughter Sheila (Larry), Grandchildren Teagan and Danielle. Stepson Robert McIlroy. His sister, Barbara Bradbury (Jacques), Nephews Nicholas and Anthony.  Brother Bob Bradbury (Monica) Nieces Anya and Jesslyn. Nephew, Spencer. Nephew Gerry Patenaude (Leesa) Great Nieces  Zantraya, Saraya, Harmony and Ella. Great Nephew, Josiah. Great and, Great Nephew, Jasper
