John Carlton Bastedo
September 18, 1929 - February 14, 2021
Tribute
John Bastedo passed away peacefully at home on February 14 at the age of 91. Beloved husband to Gwen for 64 years and loving father to Naida, John (Heather), Ruth, Elsie (Warren), Mary (Allan) and Gwynneth. Predeceased by his son Jimmy. He will be missed by grandchildren Shawn, Lisa, Rick, Read, William, Melissa, Nicole, Gwendolyn, Timothy, Sara, Maggi, Andy, Carl and Taryn and also by 19 great grandchildren.
John was a devoted family man, taking an interest in each of his childrens’ pursuits, including coaching little league baseball, helping deliver papers and attending motocross events. That continued with the younger generations as well, attending hockey games, hunting for frogs and having pirate adventures to mention but a few.
His caring and generous spirit were not limited to his own family – his home was always open to those needing encouragement and fatherly wisdom. He exemplified his Christian beliefs in the way he lived his life. Absent from the body, and present in the Lord. We are forever grateful to have had you in our lives.
