Jerry Flynn

January 26, 1951 - August 5, 2024

Tribute

Jerry Flynn, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Duncan, BC, Jerry was born the only child of Richard and Alice Flynn. His family’s journey through the logging industry took them to various towns in British Columbia, eventually settling in Hope. Spending many summers and holidays together, Jerry and cousin Kenny Boyd became like brothers causing mischief wherever they went.

Jerry returned to Duncan, eventually meeting Brenda in 1974. Together, they built a family, welcoming three children: Nicki, Curtis, and Ryan, who joined Jerry’s daughter, Dianna, from a previous relationship. Jerry continued in his father’s footsteps joining MacMillan Bloedel in Chemainus working as a warehouseman and boom man until retirement in 2008. Jerry’s early years were filled with sports, as he was an avid hockey and softball player. His family life was busy with kids soccer games, camping, many travel adventures and so much more. In retirement, he found joy in golf, often playing with his longtime buddy and brother-in-law Craig Duncan. Jerry was always known for his natural ability to make those around him laugh with stories, wit, jokes and humour. He loved to sit outside, beer in hand, taking a few puffs with his dogs by his side, all watching the trees grow as Brenda would say.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Alice. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, of 50 years, children Dianna (Darren), Nicki (Scott), Curtis, and Ryan (Stephanie). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Dakota (Nicole), Cheyenne (Justin), Taylor, Jordan (Jordan S), Corren, Ciaran, Vienna, Briar, and Avah, as well as his great-grandchildren Jaxon, Grayden, and Murphy.  He will also be missed by his many brothers and sisters-in-laws with whom he formed many close relationships.

Jerry’s family would like to extend their thanks to the BC Cancer Agency, Cowichan District Hospital Oncology department. Hospital At Home Program, Home Nursing Support and Home Care Support teams. A special thanks to Dr. Adzick and Dr. Masuda for their compassionate care in Jerry’s final days.

Celebration of Life to be held at Eagles Hall, Saturday, August 10th at 1 pm.

From: Angie Winter
Relation: friends since 1973

I was so sorry we missed your service. We did not hear about it until it was over. I knew Jerry back when he was single. Back in the Roome Rd. days. Lots of stories there. Jerry was always so fun to be around. A good person he was. Brenda, just do one day at a time, don’t think about tomorrow.
