Jean was a good friend to me and my wife Barb and to the Cowichan community. A stalwart supporter of the Legion, she was a strong believer and advocate for practical improvement in numerous civic matters. She will be very much missed.

Jean — or “Mrs. Jackson”, as we knew her — was my sister and my ESL teacher when we first arrived in Canada from Germany some 32 years ago. With her excellent tutelage and unwavering support, she had us speaking fluent English in just a few months. We will always be grateful for her kindness to us and carry with us fond memories of the woman who helped us with such dedication to find our footing in this new land. Thank you always, Mrs. Jackson.

To Jeans family – I only had the privilege to know Jean for a short while, but during that time I found a very loving, compassionate & charming lady. She was very appreciative of anything done for her and let you know ! She seemed fairly quiet – but when she heard or thought of a song she liked – out came a magnificent voice & a cheerful smile. We all miss her at Alpenrose. Marilyn

Relation: Husband George Jackson worked on our family farm back in the 1950s and Jean became a life-long friend to Aileen.
We knew the Jackson family from the early 1950s when George worked on our family farm in Terrace, B.C. My Mom, Aileen was also a teacher and Jean and Aileen remained friends over the years even though they were not able to get together very often. We have many fond memories of good times with the young Jackson family in Terrace. In later years there were visits with Jean and Len in Duncan where they had lovely garden. Jean always insisted on serving lunch – she made a mean strawberry shortcake – the best ever! We are so sorry to learn that Jean passed away and send our condolences to her family. She was a great lady!
