Jean Lilly Cameron (Roberton)
July 6, 1941 - August 3, 2025
Tribute
Jean Lilly Cameron (nee Roberton), 84, of Duncan, BC, passed away peacefully on 3 August 2025 at Cowichan District Hospital (CDH). Born in Bjorkdale, Saskatchewan, Jean was the beloved youngest child of four, and only daughter, of Frederick Redvers Roberton and Nellie Noreen White.
Throughout her life, Jean was a model of perseverance, grace and strength, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. As a child and through her teenage years, she was active in sports and outdoor pursuits, keeping pace with her three older brothers, and excelling in swimming, horseback riding, and competitive figure skating. Upon graduation, she trained as a nurse, a perfect match for her compassionate and social personality. In her 20s and again in her 40s, she fought and won battles against cancer, defying all odds. Following her decades-long career as a devoted nurse, she stayed active in her retirement, enjoying time with loved ones and pursuing hobbies such as travelling, volunteerism, bowling, crocheting, and cooking. She was well known as a true social butterfly – chatty, witty, and full of laughter and positivity – with a presence that could light up a room.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, Doug Greene; brother Jack Roberton; daughters Kimberlee Cameron-Friel, Jacqueline Nicolson (Doug), and Patricia Welch (George); granddaughters Kristen Al-Aamri (Giyab) and Alexandria Nicolson; and, great-grandsons Mohammad and Colten, as well as numerous other family members and friends who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Lorne Roberton.
In honor of Jean’s wishes, no service will be held and her ashes will be interred alongside her parents in Schumacher, Ontario.
Jean’s family extends special thanks to Dr. Mohammud Ibrahim and the nursing staff at CDH for their compassion, care, and support.
Jean will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
