Jason Knowles

Date of Death: July 24, 2021

Tribute

It is with sadness and many loving memories that we announce the passing of our friend, son, and loving father Jason Knowles   Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he was the son of Gloria (Edwards) Duff and the late Joseph Knowles.  He moved west with his family as a child, and after 4 years they settled on Vancouver Island.

Jason was postdeceased (on Sept. 2, 2021) by his only nephew Kyle Knowles, his brother Mike’s son.

Jason is survived by his daughter Natasha Knowles with her Mom Lara Kardash, and by his brothers Michael Joseph (Amanda), Thomas Aaron (Andee) and Derek Julian.  Jason also had his large Nova Scotia ( Edwards and Knowles) families, and Vancouver Island and United States (Duffs and Nearys) families.

Jason loved his family and friends and relished watching his childhood friend Scott getting 2 holes in one at their golf game and bragging about it. He was always looking to his next adventure, skydiving from a plane as a teen, travelling to Alaska in the freezing cold to work at a logging camp, to joining the fair and travelling across Canada, ending up in Toronto during a heat wave,  and then mailing his long dark locks back to his Mom in BC.   Also still a teen, he joined the Army Reserves excelling at boot camp. He was an adventurer, delighting his family.

As an adult he travelled to Cuba and to Nevada and Mexico many times.  He enjoyed outdoor concerts, sailing, houseboating, ziplining, white water rafting, and many hiking and camping trips with his adored daughter Natasha.  Many stories have been passed around about their swim with sharks, with blood being dropped in the water, wild rides and other exciting adventures they did together.

Jason was a fantastic Dad and his greatest love was his daughter, and family was extremely important to him.  Jason managed many adventures in his lifetime and was always ready for the next one.  He taught his daughter that she could accomplish anything, hence all the adventures.

Jason worked at many  jobs from the age of 14.  He eventually trained to  become a Certified provider of at-sea  Observer for Archipelego  (by Fisheries and Oceans) and later ended up as a  Fisher and Production Manager on large fishing production ships for the last 16 plus years.  We are so fortunate to have had him in our lives and will miss him beating us at games and making us laugh..

There will be a celebration of Jason’s life announced for late spring 2022,when friends and relatives may travel safely  from Canada and the United States
