A better man there wasn’t than Jim. He was always there when you needed him. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for a friend. I will miss him immensely. My condolences to his family on their loss.

From: Darren Gilby
Relation: We socialized through the game of darts
Spent many hours socializing and playing darts with Jim. He had a very unique sense of humour. I’m very sad to hear of his passing. I wasn’t aware he was ill. RIP Jim. I’m sorry we won’t get to share any more of those good times we’ve had on random occasions in the past

From: Debbie Grant
Relation: He was friends with my husband Kevin Grant, brother in law Peter Grant and Mark Halliday. They were all in the reseves together.
Jimmy had been a part of our lives since he was 17 and joined the reserves. He was an incredibly gentle giant who always treated others with respect. Although we hadn’t seen him for years we always heard about him through Mark and we felt he was part of our family. We will miss him.

From: Louise Klaassen
Relation: We both walk with Volkssport in Victoria.
Dear Mrs. Dorby, Ken and family: It was such a shock to hear of Jim’s passing. As you know, he was an active walker and I met him through Volkssport in Victoria. With his long legs he was usually many strides ahead of most of us and to keep up with him I had to practically jog! I last spoke with him at the Saturday walk just before he died and he seemed fine and cheerful and looking forward to the day. I am passing on heartfelt condolences over your loss. Jim’s passing is a loss to our walking community as well.
