Tribute
REINHOLD – Ivar – passed away peacefully at the Cowichan District Hospital on Friday August 20, 2010 following complications from hip surgery. Born in Riga, Latvia on February 26, 1920. Lovingly remembered by his wife Natalia; son Ron of Calgary and sister Ilga.
Ivar came to Canada in 1948 and was a resident of Salt Spring Island from 1962 until 1995. Ivar was one of the original employees of BC Ferries and remained there for 26 years, being Chief Steward on the Gulf Island run. During the WWII Ivar helped rebuild the German infrastructure and as a result became a master builder, building his home on Salt Spring Island, the big island of Hawaii and projects for family and friends in BC and Alberta. He was a very romantic person, enjoying nature, animals, gardening, classical and country music as well as he was an avid reader.
A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, on Somenos Road on Wednesday August 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com

I send my belated condolences on the death of Ivar Reinhold.
Our family escaped from Latvia in 1941, then 10 years in Germany,
then Canada.
