Ivan Strom

Tribute
Ivan Franklin Strom We mourn the loss of Ivan; father, stepfather, brother, grandfather, uncle, and great friend. Ivan was a fixture in the Chemainus community, where he lived his whole life. He was a proud longshoreman, served the community as a paramedic, and owned the Puff n Stuff convenience store. Ivan loved to golf and could often be found at the Mount Brenton Golf Course or with friends at the nearby Horseshoe Pub. An avid fisherman, Ivan enjoyed prawning off Bare Point and trolling the waters near Tent Island. Ivan will be greatly missed by his large and loving family as well as his many friends. Predeceased by his parents, Lillian and Anders, and his brother Dale, Ivan is survived by his children, Suzanne and Jeremy, Tony and Ramona, grandchild Nathan, and siblings, Jon, Andrea, David, and Muriel and mother of his children Wendy Hicks. A celebration of Ivan’s life will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church, 3318 River Road, Chemainus, BC on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 2:30 p.m., followed by a reception at Mount Brenton Golf Course, 2816 Henry Road, Chemainus. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, memorial remembrances may be made in the form of a donation to the Chemainus Health Care Foundation, 9909 Esplanade ST., Chemainus, BC V0R 1K1.

I only met your dad once when he bought us lunch in the restaurant in Chemainus. In that short session I could see that he was a kind hearted man who loved his daughter Suzanne very much. I could feel that he was a community man, peaceful and kind. He was very proud of his daughter. I pray for Suzanne and family and hope that you can all be there for each other and support each other through this.
