Isabelle Neilson Saunders (Smith)
September 7, 1923 - January 27, 2016
Tribute
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Isabelle Saunders on January 27, 2016. Isabelle is survived by Lou, her loving husband of 71 years, her five children Linda (John), Judy (Marc), David (Phyllis), Neil (Debbie), Chris, her eight grand children and eight great grand children. Mom and Dad raised their family in Winnipeg and retired to warmer climates in Duncan BC in 1993. They are long time members of Fort Garry United Church and Duncan United Church. After raising her family, Mom turned her talents to volunteering. She received a Paul Harris recognition by the Fort Garry Rotary Club for her volunteer work at St. Amant Centre and Golden Links Lodge in Winnipeg. In Duncan, Mom turned her volunteer energies to helping operate the Duncan United Church’s Thrift Store. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. W. Reimer and the Cowichan District Hospital for their care and concern. A celebration of Mom’s life will be held in Winnipeg at a later date. Donations in Mom’s name may be made to Duncan United Church.
Mom, you will be dearly missed

I was so sorry to read of Auntie Isabelle’s passing. A flood of memories came- fun times with cousins on Kebir Place, Pelican Lake, snowmobiling, family picnics at St Vital Park. Auntie Isabelle was soft spoken, gracious, warm and welcoming. I will remember her fondly, as she was part of a wonderful extended family. She was simply a lovely lady.

RIP Auntie Isabelle, very fond memories of my childhood having lots of fun at the cabin on the Lake in the summer, Christmas visits to your home in Winnipeg when Chris was a little guy, and as an adult in BC, get togethers at Sandown Park when we raced our horses, celebrating our birthdays (and mum’s) in September, being a part of your 90th Birthday celebration with all of your family, joining in on card nights for some fun. I am so glad Jim and I got to visit with you last May. Big Hugs and much love to Uncle Lou, Linda, Dave, Judy, Neil and Chris and their families. Lots of Love, Marni, Jim and Sean Koelln & his partner Cristina Costa
