Herbert Theriauf
November 23, 1943 - December 21, 2017
Tribute
Born in Port Alberni, raised in Duncan, BC, Herbert passed away at home surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his wife Peggy of 53 years as well as his son Murray, daughter Cheryl (Darren) Jordan, sister Gail (Tom) Hewitt, brother in law Stewart Murray as well as several nephews and a niece, great nephews and a great niece.
He retired after 35 years in the Royal Canadian Navy as CP02. He travelled the world, loved boating, building boats, especially Just Rite. Herbie also loved hunting, camping with his buddies (you know who you are) and playing guitar.
Thank you to Dr. Terlien, Cowichan District Hospital Chemotherapy Unit and his nephew Jason. He put up a brave battle until the end.

Relation: Neighbour
We are very saddened to hear of Herb’s passing. He (and Just Rite) were our neighbours for many years at the Masthead Marina as we lived in the adjacent float home. We looked forward to Herbie’s regular boat visits down at the dock where he always had time fora quick chat, and to give our dog, Harmony, a treat. We rafted up near him on one of his many solo boat journeys, and his love of the sea was contagious. He just loved being “out there”! He will be missed, and we offer his family and friends our deepest condolences.

So sorry to read about Herb passing away, such a sad thing especially at Christmas. Glad we got together and had a good visit before he was too ill. Our sympathy goes to you and your family, lots of good memories.

Hello Peggy
What a man your husband was. I loved him. when I was an ordinary seaman Herbie was my leading seaman. He was a wonderful leader, took care of the little guys. He and Spooner were heroes to many of us.
