Hazel Ball
December 3, 1927 - January 23, 2014
Tribute
Born in Victoria, raised in Otter Point where she shared in the hard work on the family farm. Died peacefully at home in the early morning. Predeceased by her parents William and Mary Shambrook, youngest daughter Sandra Annie Wylie (Steve), and older brothers Alfred and Raymond Shambrook. Remembered by sisters Rose, Amy, Shirley and brother Arthur. Beloved wife of Joe Ball, long-time residents of the Cowichan Valley, mother of Sharon Hazelwood (Alan), Joe Ball Jr (Cindy), Peter (Kelly) and William (Christine) the two surviving members of the King’s Daughter Hospital’s only triplets and hailed as Mother of the year in 1966. From early days in Otter Point to travelling the world, she lived in New Zealand, several provinces in Canada and visited many foreign countries. She was full of love for her children, 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and all her extended family. Married at 18 in 1946 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Victoria, she found a home at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church here in Duncan where she loved and was loved by all her Church Family. A helpmeet, a companion, a lover. I will walk beside you again Darling!
A celebration of her life will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 531 Herbert St. Duncan, BC on Feb 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., interment to follow at the church columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor to the church building would be welcome.
